 How to add Google Apps (Gapps or Gsuite) email to Outlook on my PC


1. Navigate to File in the top left corner of Outlook 2013/2016.

2. Select Add Account under Account Information.

3. Select the option for Manual setup or additional server types. Select Next.

4. Check off the box saying POP or IMAP. Then select Next.

5. Fill Out the following fields

  • User Information:
    • Your Name: your desired display email name(i.e. Jonathan Husky)
    • E-mail Address: 012345678@yourschool.vic.edu.au (i.e. @livingstoneps.vic.edu.au , @ringwoodnorthps.vic.edu.au , @morelandps.vic.edu.au etc)
  • Server Information
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Logon Information
    • 012345678@yourschool.vic.edu.au
    • School services (Google/Compass/Sentral) Password


6. Select More Settings

7. Navigate to the Outgoing Server tab.

8. Select the box stating My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

9. Select the option to Use same settings as my incoming mail server


10. Select the Advanced Tab

11. Make sure the following information is filled out under advanced:

  • For incoming server, make sure that the type of encryption is set to SSL. (993 should be auto detected as the port number).
  • Outgoing server (SMTP) port should be 587.
  • The encryption type for outgoing server, should be TLS.


12. Select OK upon completion



13. You should have your email setup now.  Check if your new messages are being received and attempt to send a test email.
