How to Connect to eduStar WiFi on my Android device? (unsupported article)

Solution

Android is not supported by the department.

That said, Some have had success connecting to eduSTAR WiFi.

Many older versions of Android are unable to connect to a proxy so while you may have success connecting, this cannot guarantee an internet connection.

In other cases you may connect but find some/many applications fail to work via a proxy.

You may try the following instructions on your own but beware that unfortunately support can not be given for your device at this point in time.

If you do not have an edumail address or TO number, you will be unable to connect.

Open your Wifi settings.

Add a Wi-Fi network (you can use the detected one if you like)

Enter the following for the wireless network:

  • SSID = eduSTAR
  • Security = 802.1x EAP
  • EAP Method = PEAP
  • Phase 2 Authentication = MSCHAPv2
  • CA Certificate = unspecified
  • User Certificate = unspecified
  • Identity = edu001\012345678 - [edumail username]
  • Anonymous Identity = [LEAVE BLANK]
  • Password = [edumail password]

Advanced = YES

  • proxy (manual) = eduproxy
  • port = 8080

Note: proxy and port may be different but edupass or eduproxy with port 800 or 8080 should work.
